Saanu Michael’s open letter to President Tinubu on local govt autonomy
By Fly Cable News
A concerned Nigerian, Saanu Michael Oluwakayode has proposed solutions to foster local government development to Nigerian government.
Saanu made this known in an open letter written to President, Bola Tinubu, National Assembly and others a copied seen by Fly Cable News, reads that, “Dear Mr. President, Senate, and House of Representatives,
“I am writing to propose an innovative solution to foster rapid growth in our local government areas. I recommend inaugurating a Community Monitoring and Evaluation Team, comprising of:
1. CDA (Community Development Association) heads
2. Traditional chiefs
3. Community media representatives
4. Other community stakeholders
“This team will ensure that programs and projects are effectively implemented, monitored, and evaluated by the people who matter most – the beneficiaries. This approach has been successfully adopted by the World Bank in their recent Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) in Nigeria, which yielded remarkable results across various communities.”
“Without a robust monitoring and evaluation mechanism in place, lack of transparency and stagnant growth will continue to plague our local communities. By empowering the community stakeholders to take ownership of projects and programs, we can ensure accountability, transparency, and rapid growth.”
“I urge you to consider this proposal and work towards implementing a Community Monitoring and Evaluation Team in our local government areas.”
Sincerely,
Saanu Michael Oluwakayode
