JUST IN: NIA Director-General Ahmed Rufai Abubakar resigns

The Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA),Ahmed Rufai Abubakar has submitted his resignation to President Bola Tinubu.
This news was according a post sighted by FLY CABLE NEWS on the official X (formerly known as Twitter) account of the National Television Authority (NTA) on Saturday.
Details surrounding Abubakar’s resignation, including the reasons for it and whether President Tinubu has accepted it, remain unclear at this time.
Abubakar, a retired career Foreign Service officer, was appointed to the role in 2018 by former President Muhammadu Buhari. Before his appointment as the NIA Director General, he served as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
With a rich background in diplomacy, Abubakar had extensive experience with the United Nations, where he was involved in peace support operations, mediation processes, preventive diplomacy, and promoting good governance, the rule of law, and human rights.
