OGUN POLITICS: APC Group Accuse Chairmanship Aspirants of Anti-Party Activities.

…Says Sofela, Fashola Allegedly Negotiating with PDP’s Aderinokun

A group of loyalists within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odeda Local Government has raised alarm over the activities of Hon. Oludotun Sofela, a chairmanship aspirant in the upcoming local government elections in Odeda Local Government Area, Ogun state.

The group has accused Sofela, along with another party member, Mrs. Tinu Fashola of Ward 7, Obantoko, of engaging in anti-party activities and warned the APC leadership not to trust them with power.

According to the APC stakeholders, Sofela and Fashola have been allegedly negotiating with David Olumide Aderinokun, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate in the last general election.

“There is credible evidence that Sofela, although an APC member by name, actively worked against the party’s interest during the 2023 elections,” the group claimed.

The group further accused Musiliu Akindele, another aspirant, of having supporters working for the opposition party for personal gain.

They called for a thorough investigation into the roles played by Sofela, Akindele, and Fashola during the last election cycle.

“It would be a disservice to loyal party members to field candidates who openly campaigned for the PDP while our party was fighting for victory,” said a spokesperson for the group.

“The leadership of APC in Odeda must ensure that those who truly supported the party through thick and thin are the ones trusted with leadership positions.”

The allegations have sparked concerns among APC members, with many questioning the wisdom of allowing aspirants with questionable loyalty to contest under the party’s banner.

The group’s warning comes as the local government elections draw nearer, highlighting the internal divisions and the potential impact on the party’s success at the polls.
