EDO POLL: INEC declares APC’s Monday Okpebholo winner.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on has declared Monday Okpebholo as the winner of the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.

Faruk Kuta, INEC’s returning officer for the Edo polls, announced this on Sunday evening in Benin City.

“That Monday Okpebholo of the APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Kuta said at about 09:27 pm.

Okpebholo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the just concluded election, had a total of 291,667 votes. He emerged the victor in 11 out of the 18 local government areas in the state.

Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recorded 247,274 votes while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) polled 22,763 votes in total.
