Angolan President Calls for Urgent Resolution of Middle East Conflicts

Angolan President Joao Lourenco has urged for a peaceful end to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, emphasizing the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state. He made this appeal during his annual address to the Angolan Parliament in Luanda.

Lourenco highlighted the unacceptable daily civilian casualties in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, stressing that the world cannot remain indifferent to this crisis. He reaffirmed Angola’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region, grounded in respect for the United Nations Charter, principles of non-aggression, the inviolability of borders, and the protection of state sovereignty.

He further called for an end to the occupation of Palestinian territories and the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state, stating, “The international community must come together to halt these wars, safeguard innocent lives, and foster peace and security in the Middle East, given the global implications of these conflicts.”
