Deji Adeleke Claims to Generate 15% of Nigeria’s Electricity

Adedeji Adeleke, the father of popular singer Davido, has asserted that he is responsible for generating 15% of Nigeria’s electricity. The billionaire businessman made this statement during his address at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church’s General Conference Annual Council 2024 on October 15.

“I’m in the electricity business and own power plants. I generate approximately 15% of Nigeria’s electricity. I collaborate with Chinese engineering companies, and I’m currently constructing the largest thermal power plant in Nigeria, set to launch in January 2025. This plant will have a capacity of 1250MW,” he stated.

Previously, Davido also mentioned that his family plays a significant role in distributing electricity across a large part of Nigeria. During an appearance on the American podcast ‘Business Untitled’ in April, he claimed that his family owns four power plants that greatly contribute to the country’s energy requirements.
