Ekiti Governor Raises Alarm Over Cultism, Cybercrimes in State Institutions

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, on Tuesday, expressed concern over the growing issues of cultism and cybercrimes in the state’s higher institutions. Speaking through his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier Ebenezer Ogundana (rtd), during a stakeholders’ meeting organized by the Nigeria Police Strategic Forum, Oyebanji emphasized the need for stronger security measures, particularly at Ekiti State University (EKSU), where these activities are prevalent.

He assured that his administration would continue supporting security agencies in tackling the challenges and called on school administrators to enhance their efforts. The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to an open-door policy for ensuring safety across the state.

Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Akinwale Adeniran, highlighted that security is a collective responsibility between the government and citizens. He commended the Inspector General of Police’s initiative, aimed at safeguarding schools, and expressed pride that Ekiti was selected to launch the programme alongside Niger State and Abuja.
