UNIBEN Appoints New Vice-Chancellor
The University of Benin has appointed Professor Edoba Omoregie, an expert in constitutional law and governance, as its new Vice-Chancellor.
The announcement was made on Friday in Benin by Professor Shaibu Umaru, Chairman of the Governing Council. Omoregie was selected from a pool of 27 candidates and will serve as the university’s 11th Vice-Chancellor.
He succeeds the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lillian Salami, whose tenure concludes on December 1.
Born on April 5, 1969, Professor Omoregie is a native of Benin and earned all his degrees from the University of Benin. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and was honored with the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2021.
