Dangote Trucks to Mainly Use CNG by 2026, Says MD

Arvind Pathak, Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement Plc, has announced that the company’s fleet will primarily be powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) by mid-2026.

This information was shared in a statement from the Dangote Group on Sunday. Pathak emphasized the company’s commitment to transitioning to a CNG-powered fleet.

“To support this transformation, we are investing in expanding our CNG fueling infrastructure to ensure our growing fleet has reliable access to this fuel,” he stated.

Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, added that the company has invested $280 million in compressed natural gas vehicles to aid Nigeria’s push for cleaner energy.

“In our efforts to transition to clean energy, we are optimistic about the significant progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is leading the nation’s drive toward energy efficiency. This requires private sector involvement to support this vital initiative.”

He further noted that with the new Federal Government policy under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the company is now using CNG vehicles and is committed to a greener future.

This announcement coincides with the Presidential Initiative on CNG, which is set to expand CNG usage across more states in Nigeria as an alternative to Premium Motor Spirit.
