RCCG Suspends Two Pastors Over Homosexuality Allegations

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended two pastors amid allegations of homosexual conduct.

In a memo dated October 28, 2024, the church’s National Overseer, Sunday Akande, announced the suspension and called for a formal investigation.

The memo, addressed to the special assistant to the general overseer of administration, emphasizes that the RCCG does not tolerate any form of homosexuality, citing its doctrinal and biblical foundations.

Akande confirmed that the suspended pastors will remain relieved of their duties while the investigation is carried out, expected to conclude within two weeks. The church has committed to conducting the inquiry with confidentiality, ensuring “care and integrity” while respecting the privacy of all involved.

In line with our commitment to uphold biblical teachings, we must take these allegations seriously.

As established in the doctrine of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), any act of homosexuality is not permitted. This position is firmly supported by biblical scriptures, including:

Leviticus 18:22: ‘You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.’

1 Corinthians 6:9-10: ‘Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality.’

In response to these allegations, a thorough investigation is to be conducted.

Additionally, all parties involved are to be temporarily relieved of their responsibilities across all mission organs until the investigation concludes within the stipulated two weeks.
