Ondo Election: Gov. Aiyedatiwa Responds to N1.2 Billion Security Vote Allegations

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has dismissed allegations that he receives N1.2 billion as security votes, calling the claims “lies from the pit of hell.” He made these statements during a governorship election debate hosted by Channels Television in Akure, the state capital.

The debate provided a platform for candidates to outline their development plans for Ondo State. Aiyedatiwa and his opponent, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are both former deputy governors under the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, representing the leading political parties: the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP, respectively.

As he campaigns for the upcoming governorship election on November 16, Aiyedatiwa accused Ajayi of spreading falsehoods about security funding. “You don’t just play politics by claiming someone is drawing N1.2 billion as a security vote. That is a lie from the pit of hell,” he asserted, refraining from disclosing the actual amount he receives.

The governor emphasized that all government expenditures are accounted for in the budget, arguing that his administration will operate transparently and responsibly. He urged the PDP candidate to verify his claims before making misleading statements to the public.
