Osun Police Confirm Arrest of Son in Alleged Patricide

The Osun State Police Command has announced the arrest of a man named Saidi, who is accused of murdering his father, Bale, on their farm in Ilusi, Osun State.

Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun police, confirmed the arrest and stated that an investigation is currently underway.

“The suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of killing his father. I have been briefed on the situation, and the investigation is ongoing,” Opalola said.

According to reports, Saidi allegedly decapitated his father on the day Bale was set to begin harvesting his crops.

Local sources revealed that Bale’s remains were discovered on his farm after he was reported missing for several hours. A villager named Sakariyau mentioned that Bale had last been seen on Thursday, and after a thorough search, his body was found the following day, covered with leaves.

“Before we found him on Friday, he hadn’t been seen around the village since he left for the farm. When we arrived at the farm, we searched everywhere and found his remains hidden under leaves, with his head severed,” Sakariyau explained.

Following the discovery, villagers suspected Saidi, who had accompanied Bale to the farm to harvest cocoa. He was reportedly beaten by locals before admitting to the crime after enduring significant torture.

The harvested cocoa and Bale’s motorcycle were also found on the farm. Saidi was subsequently handed over to the police and taken to the Iperindo station for further investigation.
