FG Prohibits Pilots from Working for Multiple Airlines

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a directive prohibiting licensed flight crew members from operating for multiple airlines.

The announcement, made through a circular dated November 6, 2024, and signed by the acting Director-General, Capt. Chris Najomo, highlights concerns raised by surveillance reports that showed pilots using their simulators and proficiency checks to work for more than one airline.

Najomo emphasized that the use of simulators and training facilities approved for specific operators is not intended for multi-airline operations, as this poses a safety risk. The directive, effective from November 11, 2024, mandates that all pilots and operators comply with the new rule. Any violations will be treated as breaches of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations, with enforcement actions to follow.

Additionally, from this point on, simulator renewals will be linked to a specific airline operator.
