NNPC stops Importing Refined Petroleum– Kyari

By Fly Cable News

Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), announced that the company has stopped importing refined petroleum products.

Speaking at the 42nd annual conference and exhibition of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) in Lagos, Kyari stated that NNPC now exclusively sources its fuel from domestic refineries, including the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Kyari emphasized that the shift to domestic sourcing was a strategic decision, noting, “Today, NNPC does not import any product; we are taking only from domestic refineries.”

Addressing rumors that the NNPC was hindering local refining by not supporting domestic refineries, Kyari rejected such claims, asserting that NNPC is a proud part-owner of Dangote Refinery and has been committed to the development of local refining.

He further explained that the decision to supply crude oil to domestic refineries, including Dangote, was based on a sound business judgment, as it provides a stable market for production and supports the nation’s refining capacity.

Kyari stated that NNPC’s involvement with local refineries has always been a proactive, self-motivated decision, and not something driven by external pressure.
