NDLEA Seizes 709.9kg of Illicit Drugs in Kano, Arrests 129 Suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano has seized 709.979kg of illicit drugs in October, including 309.991kg of cannabis sativa and 394.835kg of various psychotropic substances such as 741,600 tablets of Tramadol. The agency also arrested 129 male suspects during the operation.
According to NDLEA Kano Commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the seizures included methamphetamine, pregabalin, and other substances. Additionally, 22 convictions were secured, highlighting the agency’s ongoing commitment to combating drug-related activities. The suspects are being processed, with some facing prosecution and others referred for counseling and rehabilitation.
Idris-Ahmad praised the support from NDLEA Chairman Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Marwa (Rtd), the Kano State Government, and other stakeholders in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking. He urged the public to assist by reporting information to the agency’s dedicated hotline.
