Nigeria Records 361 Meningitis Deaths in 24 States-NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 361 deaths from Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) between 2023 and 2024, with 4,915 suspected cases.
As 380 confirmed cases across 174 local government areas in 24 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
NCDC Director General, Dr. Jide Idris, revealed that 2.28 million doses of the Men5CV-ACWYX vaccine were administered in high-risk states.
He warned that CSM remains a significant public health threat, particularly during the dry season, and emphasized the importance of early detection and reporting of suspected cases to prevent further deaths.
