Obasanjo Urges African Youth to Embrace AI for Future Success

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged African youth to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to shape their careers and prepare for the future. Speaking at the 5th Presidential Youth Mentoring Retreat at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Obasanjo highlighted AI’s transformative potential, predicting that by 2040, AI-driven technologies, such as driverless vehicles and smart home devices, will dominate various sectors.
Obasanjo shared his own positive experience with AI, describing how it can generate and refine content, and encouraged youth, particularly those aged 20 to 35, to focus on AI as a career path. He also noted the growing impact of technology on industries such as transportation and agriculture, citing innovations like driverless trucks and urban farming using soilless methods.
In addition, Obasanjo reflected on his own life lessons, urging young people to view every experience, including setbacks, as an opportunity to learn and grow. Entrepreneur Dr. Ifeanyi Stanley also spoke at the retreat, emphasizing the importance of mentorship, integrity, hard work, and continuous self-improvement as keys to success.
