Sanwo-Olu to Present 2025 Budget to Lagos Assembly Today

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the Lagos State House of Assembly today.
The proposed budget is expected to exceed the ₦2.267 trillion approved for 2024, signaling an ambitious financial plan for the state’s continued development.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed the presentation in a statement but withheld the exact figure. The 2025 budget, themed Budget of Sustainability, will focus on continuity, resilience, and prosperity, structured around five key pillars: Infrastructure Sustainability, Economic Diversification, and Institutional Reforms.
Governor Sanwo-Olu previously signed the ₦2.267 trillion 2024 budget into law, with a focus on infrastructure, education, security, and technology. The capital expenditure for 2024 accounted for 58% of the budget, totaling ₦1.315 trillion.
The Governor emphasized the importance of effective budget implementation for driving economic growth and improving the living standards of Lagosians. The 2025 budget, aligned with the state’s THEMES+ agenda, will prioritize the completion of ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at creating a “Greater Lagos.”
Sanwo-Olu has called for active civic participation and pledged transparency and accountability in the budget’s execution, as the state continues to build on its status as Africa’s largest city.
