The Bauchi State Government has prioritized health and education in its 2025 budget, which totals N465 billion. The state has allocated the largest portions—15.08% for health and 15.04% for education—to enhance healthcare services and advance educational development across the state.

In a breakdown of the budget shared on Friday, the State Commissioner for Budget, Aminu Hammayo, revealed that N70.228 billion is earmarked for healthcare to improve services and promote a healthier society. For education, N39.133 billion is allocated to the Ministry of Education, and N30.8 billion for Higher Education.

Hammayo also highlighted an increase in recurrent expenditure for the 2025 budget to accommodate the N70,000 minimum wage and the contributory pension scheme. The recurrent expenditure totals N69,995,477,83.47, accounting for 39.3% of the budget, which is higher than the previous year. Capital expenditure is set at N282.34 billion, making up 60.7% of the budget.

Other sectors, including agriculture and transportation, will receive N219.5 billion, while administrative activities are allocated N69.94 billion. Overall, the social sector, which includes health and education, will receive a combined allocation of N166.98 billion.

Governor Bala Mohammed presented the budget to the State Assembly on Thursday, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of citizens and fostering development.
