Obasanjo, Gowon, Other Dignitaries to Attend Plateau Christmas Festival

By Fly Cable News

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former military Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.), and other distinguished guests are set to attend the Christmas Carols and Praise Festival in Plateau State. The event will take place from November 29 to December 1, 2024.

The announcement was made by Samuel Jatau, Secretary to the State Government, who stated that Gowon will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, while Obasanjo will be the Guest of Honour. The interdenominational festival, organized by the Plateau State Government in partnership with the Plateau State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), aims to unite the people through songs of praise and worship in celebration of the Christmas season.

The event will kick off the state’s Tourism Month, declared by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who is committed to promoting love, compassion, and unity within the community. Governor Mutfwang also emphasized the significance of Christmas, which represents the birth of Jesus Christ, the embodiment of love, kindness, and generosity.

The festival will be held at the Ten Commandments Prayer Altar in Jos South Local Government Area, with a daily start time of 3:30 PM. It will feature music by renowned gospel artist Solomon Lange and will be graced by several prominent Nigerian figures, including Ambassador Prof. Mary Lar, wife of the late Chief Solomon Lar, and the Chief Host, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.

This event is designed to celebrate the values of faith and unity, positioning Plateau State as a top destination for Christmas celebrations in Nigeria and beyond.

The city of Jos will be adorned with festive lights and the sounds of carols, offering a joyous experience for families, tourists, and visitors.
