Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Elected Namibia’s First Female President

Namibia’s Vice-President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has been elected as the country’s first female president after winning the disputed November 2024 election.
Nandi-Ndaitwah, a member of the ruling SWAPO party, secured 57.31% of the vote, defeating the main opposition candidate, Panduleni Itula of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), who received 25.5%.
The election, which saw logistical challenges and extended voting, has been criticized by the IPC, which has vowed not to accept the results, citing irregularities.
Despite this, Nandi-Ndaitwah, 72, is set to lead Namibia, focusing on job creation and attracting investments.
