By Fly Cable News reports
Four members of the House of Representatives have defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal crises and the absence of a National Working Committee in the LP as key reasons for their decision.
The defectors include Chinedu Okere (Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West, Imo), Mathew Donatus (Kaura, Kaduna), Akiba Bassey (Calabar Municipal/Odukpani, Cross River), and Esosa Iyawe (Oredo, Edo).
Additionally, Erhriatake Ibori-Suenu, representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, Delta, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the defections on Thursday and congratulated the lawmakers, stating they had made the right decision.
However, Minority Whip Ali Isa and Deputy Minority Whip George Ozodinobi criticized the defections.
Ozodinobi, an LP leader , accused the defectors of lacking political ideology, adding that the APC has brought hunger to Nigerians.
