Army seeks media collaboration to tackle disinformation

Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede has emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Nigerian Army and media practitioners to ensure accurate and balanced reporting of military activities.

Speaking at the Nigerian Army Civil-Military Cooperation Quarterly Media Chat in Enugu on Thursday evening, Oluyede, represented by Maj.-Gen. Hassan Dada stressed the need for open dialogue and regular communication channels to facilitate transparent reporting, timely information dissemination, and effective counter-misinformation strategies.

Oluyede urged media practitioners to prioritise accuracy, fairness, and balance in their reporting, considering the public’s right to information and national security considerations.

The event was tagged, “Military and Media Relationship: A Panacea for Enhanced National Security and Development.”
