The Federal Government has announced plans to train 40,000 Nigerian youths in Information Communication Technology (ICT) and digital skills as part of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI). The initiative, which will train a total of 93,731 individuals, also includes 3,000 slots reserved for people with special needs.
Honourable Silas Agara, Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), made the announcement during the official launch of the program at the NDE Skills Acquisition Center in Abuja. The program is designed to offer training in 30 different skill sets across vocational skills development, small-scale enterprises, rural employment promotion, and special public works.
In addition to the ICT training, the initiative will provide tools, equipment, and startup capital to some beneficiaries, with ongoing discussions to link others with credit-granting institutions for further support.
