Man Dies in Kwara Fire, 5 Rooms Destroyed, 30 Rescued

A 41-year-old man, AbdulFatai, from Ile Alate, Abayawo compound in Ilorin, tragically lost his life in a fire that broke out in the early hours of Monday, December 9, 2024, at No. 158, Ile Alaparun Isale, Alore, Ilorin, Kwara State.

AbdulFatai, who was visiting a friend at the time, was caught in the blaze and succumbed to smoke inhalation.

According to a statement from Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, firefighters were alerted at 02:07 hours and arrived swiftly at the scene.

Despite the fire damaging several rooms, the team successfully saved 30 rooms out of 35, with five rooms completely destroyed.

The fire was traced to spontaneous ignition in a room containing flammable materials, including petrol, batteries, and a tire inflator engine.

AbdulFatai was found unconscious and later confirmed dead, and his body was returned to his family after the operation.
