Customs Promotes 1,419 Junior Officers for Enhanced Service Delivery

By Fly Cable News

The management of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has approved the promotion of 1,419 junior officers to various ranks as part of efforts to enhance service efficiency for the trading public.

This decision was made during the 10th Management meeting, led by the Comptroller General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, held late last month.

The promotion list includes both General Duty and Support Staff who performed well in the 2024 promotion exercise. Specifically, 346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers were promoted from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC), while 4 General Duty and 13 Support Staff officers moved from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC). Additionally, 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers were promoted from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI), and 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers advanced from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).

This initiative reflects the NCS management’s commitment to fostering career development, under the leadership of CGC Adeniyi, who prioritizes workforce motivation to drive excellence and elevate the organization’s service delivery.

The Comptroller General congratulated the newly promoted officers and encouraged them to intensify their efforts in fulfilling the NCS’s core mandates of revenue generation, smuggling suppression, and trade facilitation.

The promotion list for senior officers is currently under review and awaiting approval by the Nigeria Customs Service Board.
