Lagos Govt Launches One-Week Raid to Tackle Begging and Social Misconduct

By Fly Cable News reports

The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, in collaboration with the Lagos State Task Force, has initiated a week-long operation to curb street begging, miscreant activities, and other social vices across the state. This action follows growing public concern about security risks and environmental nuisances posed by beggars, miscreants, and children engaged in begging.

Speaking at the launch, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development Mobolaji Ogunlende explained that the operation was a direct response to numerous complaints from residents in Lagos, highlighting the urgency of addressing the issue.

Since the operation began, a significant number of individuals, including adults and children, have been rescued from the streets and taken to rehabilitation centers for care and reintegration. Efforts are underway to reunite the children with their families, while adults will undergo empowerment programs to gain skills for self-sufficiency.

The operation, which covers key routes such as Awolowo Way, Ikoyi, and Lekki Road, aims to restore order and security in the city.
