NCC Issues MTN a 5-Day Disconnection Notice Over Unpaid Interconnect Charges

By Fly Cable News

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a five-day pre-disconnection notice to MTN Communications Limited over the non-payment of interconnect charges.

The notice, dated December 27, was signed by the NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Muoka.

According to the statement, the NCC approved the disconnection of Exchange Telecommunications Limited (Exchange) from MTN Nigeria after determining that Exchange had no sufficient justification for failing to settle the charges.

Key Points of the Notice
– The disconnection aligns with Section 100 of the Nigerian Communications Act 2003 and the 2012 guidelines for disconnection procedures.
– MTN will stop routing voice and data traffic through Exchange after the five-day period, using alternative channels for interconnection.
– The disconnection will remain in effect until further notice from the NCC.

The public has been notified to take note of the development.
