Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has appealed to the Federal Government to lower the cost of the 2025 Hajj to ease the burden on citizens facing economic difficulties.
The governor made this appeal during an event organized by the State Pilgrims Welfare Board in Kano to distribute refunds from Saudi Arabian authorities following a power outage during the 2023 Hajj.
In a statement by his media aide, Sanusi Bature, Yusuf commended the Saudi government for the refund and pledged to express appreciation through the Kingdom’s consulate in Kano. He also praised the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for its transparency and timely refund process and lauded the State Pilgrims Welfare Board for its efficient organization of the 2024 Hajj.
Yusuf, who recently performed the Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia, confirmed that preparations for the 2025 Hajj were already underway, focusing on areas for improvement.
The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdulsalam, also praised the governor’s support for the pilgrims’ board, while the board’s Director-General, Laminu Danbaffa, disclosed that N375 million had been refunded to pilgrims affected during the 2023 Hajj.
