NPF Dismantle 5,049 Cybercrime Networks, Arrest 751 Suspects

By Fly Cable News

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismantled 5,049 malicious domains and networks, of Cybercrime Syndicate leading to the arrest and prosecution of over 751 cybercrime operatives. Not only that a total of 685 devices, including mobile phones, computers, routers, and servers, have been recovered within the past year.

Additionally, 508 cybercrime cases were reported, with 14 convictions secured, and assets worth over ₦8.8 billion restituted to victims. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, highlighted these achievements as milestones recorded by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in 2024.

Additionally, he highlighted the Centre’s nationwide cyber security awareness campaign, which included workshops, seminars, and digital platforms aimed at educating the public on online safety practices. Galaxy Television reports that the Director of the NPF-NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi, while responding to questions from journalists, clarified that the items recovered from suspects are meant for the victims, not the Centre, and are returned to them accordingly.

As 2025 begins, ACP Adejobi reaffirmed the NPF-NCCC’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s cyber defenses, addressing emerging threats, and protecting victims of cybercrime, thereby ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s digital ecosystem.
