A 23-year-old salesgirl, Bukola Adeoye, was arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday for allegedly stealing N2.1 million from her employer.
Adeoye, whose address remains unknown, faced a single charge of theft, which she pleaded not guilty to.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, informed the court that the alleged theft took place on December 20, 2024, around 2:00 pm, at the Mosafejo area of Badagry, Lagos.
Adeosun claimed that Adeoye stole N968,200 in cash from her employer, Zannu Thomas, and also converted N1,174,800, the proceeds from one week of sales, for her personal use.
The prosecutor stated that the offense violated Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya granted Adeoye bail in the amount of N500,000, with two sureties also required to provide bail in like sum. The case was adjourned until February 11 for further mention.
