Benue Govt Targeting Former Governor Ortom, Says Media Aide

Terver Akase, media aide to former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, has accused the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia of undue persecution. Akase criticized the barrage of press statements targeting Ortom since his departure from office, labeling them as unjustified and excessive.
He highlighted various actions taken by the Alia administration, including petitions to anti-corruption agencies, probe panels, and the sealing of businesses linked to Ortom. Akase also questioned the rationale behind the alleged hostility, particularly over Ortom’s appearances at non-political events alongside prominent figures.
Akase urged the state government to prioritize pressing issues, such as resolving insecurity and addressing the plight of displaced persons, rather than focusing on media campaigns against Ortom.
