Lagos Police Expose ‘Constructive Kidnapping’ Scheme, Rescuing 16 Women and a Teenager

By Fly Cable News

The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a disturbing new kidnapping trend known as “Constructive Kidnapping,” where kidnappers deceive women by posing as online friends or lovers. At least 16 women from various parts of Lagos have fallen victim to this scheme, but were fortunately rescued by the police.

According to the police, the kidnappers lure victims through social media, promising romantic encounters and offering financial incentives, including N500,000 and paid flight tickets to Lagos. Once the victims arrive, they are taken to luxury hotels, where their phones are seized, and money is transferred from their accounts. The kidnappers then demand ransom from the victims’ families, threatening to kill them if their demands are not met.

The police have successfully rescued the women and continue to warn the public, particularly women, to be cautious when interacting with strangers online. Additionally, the police reported the case of a 15-year-old girl who, along with her boyfriend, staged her own kidnapping and demanded a ransom from her parents. Both were arrested during a raid.
