The Katsina State Government has earmarked ₦50 billion for water supply projects in 20 local government areas as part of its 2025 development agenda.
The Managing Director of the Katsina State Water Board, Mr. Tukur Hassan-Tingilin, made this announcement on Tuesday during the launch of the grievance redress committee for the Nigeria Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (NG-SURWASH) initiative in the state.
Hassan-Tingilin explained that the funding is included in the state’s ₦682.2 billion 2025 budget, with the goal of providing reliable access to potable water in both rural and urban areas of the 20 local governments.
He also mentioned that the state government had already invested ₦20 billion in water and sanitation projects across 10 local government areas in the 2024 fiscal year.
For 2025, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has allocated over ₦50 billion to support the continued provision of clean water across the state.
Hassan-Tingilin highlighted the crucial role of the grievance redress committee in resolving community issues related to ongoing SURWASH projects. He urged committee members to focus on ensuring the sustainability and proper management of these initiatives for their long-term success.
