Wike Signed 5,481 Certificates of Occupancy in 2024 – Aide

By Fly Cable News

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, signed 5,481 Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) in 2024, marking a significant achievement compared to previous years.

According to Lere Olayinka, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, this figure is just 2,919 fewer than the total number of C-of-Os signed by the FCT Administration between 2010 and 2023.

Olayinka highlighted the expedited process under Wike’s administration, stating, “Once necessary payments are made, land allottees can now receive their C-of-O within two weeks.” He attributed past delays to inefficiencies, adding that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, such bottlenecks have been resolved.

He also noted improvements in the system, with the uploading of collection details now completed within 72 hours, compared to the months it previously took.

Providing a breakdown, Olayinka revealed that:

2010 to 2015: 5,655 C-of-Os were signed.
2015 to 2019: 1,174 C-of-Os were signed.
2019 to 2023: 1,571 C-of-Os were signed.
May 2023 to December 2024: 5,481 C-of-Os were signed by Wike as FCT Minister.
He added that in the coming weeks, land allottees whose C-of-Os are ready will begin receiving auto-generated SMS notifications, addressing the challenge of many being unaware their title documents are ready for collection.
