COVENANT UNIVERSITY STUDENTS VISIT LAWMA

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), today, received students and faculty members of the Department of Biological Sciences, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, on an educational visit to the Authority.
Welcoming the team at the LAWMA headquarters, Ijora-Olopa, the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, represented by the Head LAWMA Academy, Mrs. Bola Adewumi, expressed delight in the visit, being the first of such this year, assuring them of LAWMA’s commitment to knowledge sharing in the waste management sector.
He said, “In LAWMA, we are open to collaborations through educational visits such as this. It exposes students to a lot of innovations going on in the waste management value chain. Before now, we had received students on educational visits from the University of Lagos; Yaba College of Technology and the Maritime University, Delta State, among others. They left with fulfilling experiences. With the team of experts we have here, be assured that you will be exposed to all the theoretical and practical knowledge about our waste management operations, especially as the sector is moving towards a circular economy. There are facilitators who will speak to you on their areas of specialisation. Be ready to learn, unlearn and relearn. I want to welcome you once again to the knowledge hub of waste management, as I wish you all a fruitful interaction”.
In his response, the team lead, Dr. Issac Ayanda, appreciated the Authority for the kind disposition in receiving his team, expressing optimism that the team would have reasons to come back for more.
Lectures of the day included: Landfill Management, Circular Economy, LAWMA Administration and Human Resource Management, Medical Waste Services, as well as Engineering Services among others. The team also went on a facility tour of the Authority’s engineering department
