Lagos to Broadcast 320 School Lessons on TV and Social Media

The Lagos State Government is set to air 320 school lessons across 10 subjects on Lagos Television and various social media platforms under the Eko Learners Support Programme, aimed at helping students prepare for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO).

Durotimi Adeboye, Project Director and CEO of Global Education Media Ltd., the consulting firm working with the Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, disclosed this in an interview on Tuesday.

Launched on January 14 by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, the initiative was developed by education experts within the ministry to support students’ academic performance.

The programme features lessons facilitated by 30 rigorously screened teachers and will cover subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Government, History, Literature-in-English, and Yoruba.

“This initiative goes beyond the state government’s funding of WASSCE registration fees. It is a proactive measure to enhance students’ preparation and ensure improved outcomes,” Adeboye said.

Students can access the lessons on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). The lessons are designed to be interactive, allowing users to pause, revisit content, ask questions, and receive answers. The pilot project will run for 26 weeks.

Adeboye urged students to maximize the programme, emphasizing its importance for achieving good grades in public examinations, which serve as gateways to higher education.

“The government has made these resources available, and it’s now up to the students to utilize them effectively,” he added.
