APC LG Chairmen, Councillors Resume Duties in 14 Osun Councils

Local government chairmen and councillors elected in the October 15, 2022 election under the All Progressives Congress (APC) resumed office in 14 local government areas of Osun State on Wednesday morning.

Reports indicate that the officials, accompanied by APC supporters, took charge of secretariats in Ila, Ede South, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Boripe, Oriade, Obokun, Ejigbo, Iwo, Ayedire, and Boripe LGAs.

Former Special Adviser on Education, Jamiu Olawumi, confirmed the resumption, noting that security was tight with personnel from the police, civil defence, and DSS present. He also urged Governor Adeleke to ensure a peaceful transition and discourage the presence of suspected militants and cultists in the area.

Olawumi further stated that the chairmen and councillors are willing to work with the state government to support Osun’s development while respecting the separation of powers between different tiers of government.
