APC Chieftain Urges FG to Release LG Allocations to Reinstated Chairmen

By Fly Cable News

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on the Federal Government to release monthly allocations to the APC-elected local government chairmen reinstated by the court in Osun State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday after addressing journalists in Osogbo, the state capital, Oyintiloye emphasized that the state government would eventually be held accountable for funds spent on the recently conducted local government elections, which he described as a waste of taxpayers’ money.

“I urge the Federal Government to commence the release of monthly allocations to the reinstated APC council chairmen in Osun State starting this month.

“Since their removal in 2022, they have been unable to perform their duties. However, with the Court of Appeal ruling in their favor, it is only right that they receive the necessary funds to govern effectively.

“This is a crucial moment for grassroots development, which has been neglected since 2022,” he stated.

Additionally, the former lawmaker praised Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for his professionalism in managing security in the state.
“I commend the Inspector-General of Police for maintaining peace in Osun and handling security challenges with professionalism,” he noted.

Oyintiloye also lauded the reinstated council chairmen for resuming their duties despite alleged intimidation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and urged local government staff to return to work.

“There is sufficient security in place to ensure they can contribute meaningfully to governance,” he assured.

He emphasized that the reinstatement of the chairmen would allow them to deliver much-needed democratic dividends to the people at the grassroots level.
