Tinubu Nominates Melvin Ayogu to CBN Board, Seeks Senate Approval
By Fly Cable News
President Bola Tinubu has nominated Melvin Ayogu for a position on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) board and has sought the Senate’s confirmation for the appointment.
In a statement on Wednesday, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the nomination.
Additionally, Tinubu has requested Senate approval for Nwakuche Ndidi as the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
These requests were conveyed in letters to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Tinubu had previously nominated five individuals to the CBN board in February 2024, but one, Urom Eke, declined the offer due to a conflict of interest. His replacement, Ruby Onwudiwe, was later dropped over her political ties to the Labour Party (LP), following pressure from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
