EFCC arrests Aondona for cyberbullying

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Makurdi have arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, the Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over allegations of sextortion and cyberbullying, News360 Nigeria reports.

According to reports, Dr. Aondona was picked up on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Makurdi following several complaints from female students.

They accused him of engaging in unethical and criminal acts, including sexual exploitation, blackmail, and cyberbullying.

The victims claimed that the governor’s aide regularly selected slim and attractive young girls for ushering jobs and demanded sexual favours as a prerequisite for their selection.

It was further alleged that he secretly recorded their private encounters without their consent and later used the footage to intimidate and threaten them into continuing the relationship.

The EFCC said some of the explicit videos had already been circulated via various online messaging platforms, further worsening the situation for the victims.

Confirming the development, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that investigations were ongoing and that the suspect would soon be charged to court.
