FG Determines To Increase Access To Tertiary Education In Nigeria
The Federal Government has restated its commitment to increase access to tertiary education in Nigeria through the instrument of Nigerian Education Loan fund (NELFUND)
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Fund, Akintunde Sawyerr gave the assurance in Abuja, while speaking with the benefits of the intervention by the Federal Government.
GALAXY TV reports that Sawyerr disclosed that the fund came into existence at time when a large number of students in tertiary institutions are considering pulling out due to lack of fund noting that, most institutions at that time, were having their own share of the economic difficulties in the country.
He added that with the intervention, there was a bit of stability in the tertiary education system in Nigeria noting that, despite the initial challenges that confronted the initiative, it has risen above the difficulty times, with the support of all stakeholders.
Akintunde however, declared the readiness of the government at the center to strengthen and refocus NELFUND for effectiveness better performance in the overall interest of the Education development.
