A renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata has died at the age of 94.
A statement by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Junaid says Dantata died Saturday morning in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following a protracted ailment
Born on 19th May 1931, Alhaji Dantata hails from the family of Alhassan Dantata, the renowned Kano state international business mogul.
He had served as a commissioner for planning and development under governor Audu Bako of Kano state from 1967-1972.
He was in the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) from 1978-1984, but was earlier with the Northern People’s Congress 1959-1966 and the Northern Elements Progressive Union.
Dantata was the founder of Express Petroleum & Gas Company Ltd and one of the organizers of Jaiz Bank in Nigeria.
He was one of the representatives of Kano state during the 1999 constitution amendment.
He is a grand uncle of the richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote.
Alhaji Dantata lost his wife Hajiya Rabi Dantata, in 2023.
