RCCG to Hold National Prayer for Nigeria’s Restoration Amid Economic Challenges

Lagos, June 29, 2025 — In response to Nigeria’s current economic challenges, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced a national prayer session aimed at seeking divine intervention for the restoration of the nation’s economy and overall wellbeing.

The prayer session, themed “Divine Intervention,” will be held during the church’s July Thanksgiving Service at its headquarters in Ebute Metta, Lagos.

According to the General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the initiative calls on all Nigerians — especially leaders and managers across different sectors — to join hands in seeking God’s help to restore the country to its former glory. He emphasized that while the church may not influence the pricing of goods or political decisions, it holds the spiritual authority to intercede through prayers and the Word of God.

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Administration, Pastor Oladele Balogun, Pastor Adeboye told journalists in Lagos that it is time to awaken the conscience of leaders and citizens alike. “We may not sit in the seats of power, but we can pray and minister to the hearts of those who do,” he said.

He stressed that the hardship caused by inflation and insecurity has made national restoration an urgent spiritual priority. “We are praying for security, economic renewal, and national enlargement,” Pastor Adeboye added.

He urged all well-meaning Nigerians who still believe in the dream of a better Nigeria to join the RCCG in prayer. “These challenges are surmountable through faith — if those in positions of authority match their words and prayers with positive actions,” he noted.

Highlighting the role of every citizen in nation-building, Pastor Adeboye emphasized that “from pastors to politicians, artisans to traders, professors to students — every Nigerian is a stakeholder in the Nigeria project.”

RCCG’s Assistant Pastor in Charge of Province 1, Pastor Olusegun Macaulay, who delivered the vote of thanks, said the church already has a dedicated prayer team committed to interceding for the nation. He also noted that the church is engaging Nigerians on mindset change and active civic participation to drive grassroots development.
