‘Pay As You Go’ Pension Scheme Still Active in Lagos, Says Head of Service.

The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ‘Pay As You Go’ pension system, ensuring continued support for retirees in the state’s public service.

Speaking at a sensitisation programme on the Contributory Pension Scheme, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, emphasized that the initiative remains in full effect as part of efforts to safeguard the welfare of retired workers.

According to Mr. Agoro, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu remains deeply invested in the well-being of pensioners, describing the state’s pension system as one worth celebrating.

“Lagos is the only state in the federation that has cleared its pension liabilities,” Agoro noted, underscoring the state’s leadership in pension administration.

The event aimed to educate public servants on the importance of the Contributory Pension Scheme and reinforce the government’s commitment to transparency and consistency in the disbursement of retirement benefits.

Lagos continues to lead the way in pension reforms, setting a benchmark for other states across the country.
