UI Celebrates One of Its Staff at Retirement from service

Encomiums have been poured on Mr. Saka Babatunde Owolabi of the Examinations Office of the Administrative Data Processing Unit (ADPU) as he retired from the service of the University of Ibadan.

In a farewell get-together which was held in his honour by the unit, the Deputy Registrar, ADPU, Mr. Uche Ekemezie lauded the retiring staff for his sterling qualities, stating that he was not only committed to his job schedule but served the university with dedication.

He described Mr. Owolabi as someone who had the best interest of other staff at heart and exemplified servant leadership, which distinguished him in the course of his service to the university.

According to the Deputy Registrar, Mr. Owolabi served as the Examinations Officer of the university for a period of time until April 2025, and he served diligently.

Mr. Ekemezie said the retiring staff always gave himself sacrificially to learning, cutting edge service delivery, and upliftment of other members of staff.

He stated that the trajectory of the celebrant’s career had been one of professionalism and impact, disclosing that Mr Owolabi’s lowly entry point into the university as a Clerical Assistant did not deter him from pursuing knowledge and deploying the skills, which he acquired effectively everywhere he worked.

Responding to the tributes of the Deputy Registrar and other members of staff, who took their turns to extol his warm personality and professional disposition to work, Mr. Owolabi gave thanks to God for the grace given him to add value to the university.

He narrated the stories of his humble beginning, pointing out defining moments of his career that transformed his life and appreciated colleagues whom God used to shape his career path.

The unit presented him a gift as a token of their appreciation for his meritorious service.
