2027: Aduda vows to strengthen APC in FCT, backs Tinubu

A former senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Aduda, has pledged to add value to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following his recent defection from the opposition.
Aduda made the declaration while briefing journalists in Abuja alongside chairmen of the six area councils, all of whom are now aligned with the APC.
“We are coming to add value to APC,” he said, noting that the inclusion of elected council chairmen would further strengthen the party’s grassroots structure in the FCT.
The former lawmaker attributed his decision to join the APC to his belief in the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as what he described as the “sterling efforts” of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, in developing Abuja.
Aduda also commended the President and the FCT administration for ensuring what he called free and credible area council elections, which he said resulted in the APC securing control of all six councils in the territory.
“Now we have all six area councils of FCT under APC,” he said, adding that the opposition failed to make a significant impact in the recent polls.
Reflecting on his political past, Aduda admitted that his previous affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had limited the strength of APC in Abuja, but with his defection, the ruling party now has a clear coast.
“I was the problem before, holding back with PDP, but now I am no longer there, so nothing is holding APC back,” he said.
Looking ahead, the former senator expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects in the next general elections, vowing to work towards the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
On his political future, Aduda said he would consult widely with his constituents before deciding whether to return to the Senate.
“I will listen to the calls of my people carefully. If it is their wish for me to return to the Senate and serve them, I will heed their call,” he said
