Lagos residents urged govt to find solution to cult clashes and killings in Mushin.
A concerned Lagos resident in the Mushin area has urged the Lagos State government to find a lasting solution to unending cult clashes in the Mushin area of Lagos State that claim many lives and cause loss of property.
The appeal was shared on a Facebook page verified by popular Lagos-based blogger Iyen Nice on Saturday evening; the post captured the trending headline: “THE UNREASONABLE KILLINGS IN MUSHIN AND THE LASTING SOLUTIONS.”
The anonymous writer noted that, commendMr Ghohahu Odunsanya, popularly known as Iyen Na Nice, is known for his dogmatic and down-to-earth approach to issues relating to politics, security and passion for the development of Lagos State.
According to the writer, explanatory talking about the killings and the cult clashes going on in Mushin today, which seem to be unending and overwhelming the security agencies, particularly the police, is not a new thing to the residents of Mushin. These menaces have ranged from drug wars, political tussles, and the recent cult clashes and unreasonable killings by the actors. The question to ask ourselves is, HOW WERE THESE MENACES SOLVED SWIFTLY IN THE PAST?
During Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, similar things occurred vis-à-vis drug clashes and political war. The Baba Alado group versus Toba gangs and the killing of a police inspector in the Idi-Oro area of Mushin. CP Edgal was the Commissioner of Police then. I remembered Mr Imohim Edgar did not rely on the Mushin police stations and Area command; he deployed the task force headed by Egbeyemi.
“Noted that they came into Mushin in a commando-style raid dead in the night. How they got their information is still a clue to me to this day. They arrested the kingpins and destroyed all the drug areas. Toba fled, but Egbeyemi still got in Ogun State. The entire mushin became quiet like a graveyard. He took some residents to network with some people in Agege before Egbeyemi eventually gave us rest of mind in Mushin. It is obvious that the street credibility endowed on Egbeyemi always assists in breakthroughs in most of his operations in Lagos. He was born on the street and grew up among the good, the bad, and the ugly in Lagos.”
