The Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere, has faulted the acquisition of the Heritage bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Afenifere, has therefore called for the reversal of the banks license by the Apex Bank.

This was contained in a communique issued by the Ondo state chapter of the group, at a meeting held at the country home of its national leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, the state capital

The state’s Publicity Secretary of the group, Eric Oluwole, while reading the communique, asked both “the Ondo government and the federal government, to help preserve one of the legacies of the late Chief Adekunle Ajasin, by re- acquiring of Heritage bank.

Recall that the the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, said that the Board and Management of heritage bank have not been able to improve the bank’s financial performance, a situation which constitutes a threat to financial stability.

It added that the bank continued to suffer and has no reasonable prospects of recovery, thereby, making the revocation of the licence the next necessary step.

Consequently, the CBN appointed the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) as the liquidator, and the corporation has since taken over the defunct bank.

The heritage bank was formally Enterprise bank limited.

According to the communique “the Ondo State government should liase with the Federal Government to revive all the economic legacies floated by the Adekunle Ajasin administration, the state should take necessary action towards the acquisition of heritage bank
