Governor Sanwo-olu urges Nigerians to sustain democratic government
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has encouraged Nigerians to defend and uphold democracy in their nation.
In order to ensure that the nation’s founding fathers and democratic heroes—especially those who battled to bring Nigeria back to democracy on May 29, 1999—would not have lost in vain, he emphasised that all hands must be on deck in order to safeguard democracy.
Sanwo-Olu stated that a serious assessment of the nation’s democratic achievements to date needed before the observance of another June 12, which commemorates the 25th anniversary of uninterrupted democratic rule in Nigeria.
During a Tuesday Democracy Day speech, Sanwo-Olu pleaded for Nigerians to work together to create “our dream country and the future we want.”
